The pan-Indian film, Amala starring Anarkali Marikar, Srikanth, Rajisha Vijayan, and Sarath Appani is currently streaming on an OTT platform after its theatrical run. The film is a murder mystery which was released in theatres on June 16. Amala helmed by debutant Nishad Ebrahim is bankrolled by Muhsina Nishad Ebrahim under the banner of Mascot Productions.
What is Amala about?
Amala is a movie that centers around the investigation of a series of young girls' serial killings. Srikanth portrays the shrewd cop who leads the investigation. The film follows the familiar pattern of serial killer movies and features a psychopath as the antagonist. Rather than a suspense thriller, the movie moves at a steady pace. The antagonist, Basil, played by Sarath Kumar, also known as Appani Sharath, is introduced to viewers at the beginning of the film. The focus of the movie is on Basil's character and the circumstances that led him to become a killer. In Amala, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Anarkali Marikar essays a mute and deaf woman, Sherin. The plot of the film unveils after Basil, the jailbreak convict meets Sherin.

Meanwhile, Anarkali Marikar was last seen in the crime investigation drama, Kirkkan. She essayed the female lead in the Lukman Avaran starrer Sulaikha Manzil, which got a decent response at the box office.

Anarkali Marikar will be also seen in the upcoming science fiction, Gaganachari helmed by Arun Chandu. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Anarkali Marikar admitted that she plays the role of an alien in Gaganachari. The film which is crafted in the style of a mockumentary has already bagged many international awards before its release.
