After the massive success of Bheeshma Parvam, which has gone on to become Mammootty’s highest grossing Malayalam film ever, the fans’ expectations for director Amal Neerad and the megastar’s Bilal have now scaled new heights.

In a recent interview, Amal shared an update on the much-awaited sequel of the 2007 film Big B that was set to go on floors in March 2020. The filmmaker told Manorama Online that now that he has completed a big film like Bheeshma Parvam, he wants to take some time off before jumping on the next.

The filmmaker said he wants to work with Mammootty in movies that would showcase the different shades of the megastar. “Bilal’s script was written two years ago. Now, we will have to make a few corrections,” said the director, adding that script revisions are to update it according to the times. Amal also said apart from Bilal, he would also like to work on other films.

The director also talked about bouncing off three script ideas with Mammootty after Bilal was stalled in 2020. Bilal, which is set to be made on a big scale, had locations in India as well as Poland. But restrictions forced him to work on other films. He first pitched the megastar a movie with just two or three characters, but wasn’t sure how the audience would react to it, considering that they were expecting a ‘mass’ entertainer like Bilal.

That’s how he pitched a script that was entirely set in the Middle East and that of Bheeshma Parvam. While Amal said he did reconsider going ahead with Bilal after the lockdown rules were eased, Mammootty said he was then excited about Bheeshma Parvam and hence the duo went ahead with the movie.

Bheeshma Parvam, which also has Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko, Nadiya Moidu, Lena and Anagha, has grossed over Rs 85 crore in box office earnings worldwide.
