Alpha: Alia Bhatt goes all out in blood-soaked action sequence

In her latest offering, Alpha, the first female-led espionage thriller in the YRF spy universe, Alia Bhatt follows the mantra of battle, recuperate, repeat. In the first week of July, Shiv Rawail's directorial endeavour began filming at YRF Studios in Andheri, with the leading lady canning an extensive action sequence. It appears that Bhatt, who plays a super spy, and Bobby Deol, who plays the antagonist, are shooting an action set-piece at Film City in Goregaon, where the unit relocated three weeks ago.

Alia Bhatt takes action to the next level

An earlier Mid Day report claimed that Rawail and Aditya Chopra were hiring different action choreographers for each fight scene. Casey O'Neill has choreographed the current setpiece. The source told the tabloid that Alia has made one action-oriented film attempt in her 12-year career, Heart of Stone (2023). She is taking things to the next level with this specific sequence in Alpha.

As Alia and Bobby engage in violent gunplay and hand-to-hand combat, the scene is filled with graphic violence and brutality. She wears all black and has a gun slung over her leg, whereas Bobby has short hair and a beard that looks like salt and pepper. Given Casey's expertise in cutting-edge stunt technology and his work choreographing pivotal action sequences for films like Jawan (2023), Top Gun: Maverick (2022), and Jack Reacher (2012), the producers sought him out to create the stunts.

Extensive security measures

Chopra is quite sensitive about the location and security of the set, which art directors Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty built and are using to film the scenario. It will take more than four days to shoot this. Adi has made sure the site is impenetrable because it is one of the most critical parts in the film. The source elaborated that they have approximately one hundred guards stationed there, covering all possible angles.

After this scene concludes, Sharvari, who portrays Bhatt's sister and an undercover agent, will join the continuing two-month schedule. Along with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor becomes a part of the onscreen spyverse in Alpha, playing the role of Bhatt and Sharvari's mentor.
