On November 24, Telugu superstar Allu Arjun and his team of Pushpa 2, were in Chennai for a promotional event to mark the launch of the film’s special song Kissik, which features him and Sreeleela. At the launch event, the actor addressed the crowd in Tamil, even though, he reckoned, many would-be Telugu speakers, out of respect for the land he was promoting his film in. In that same vein, Allu Arjun added that he would follow that wherever he goes to promote the film and that he’d speak Arabic in Dubai, and Malayalam in Kerala, etc.
While much of the discussions about the event have revolved around the reactions to the song and Rashmika’s confirmation of her relationship status, in Karnataka, netizens thought that Allu Arjun’s speech gave them a déjà vu moment. Soon enough, there were comments that the actor had found inspiration in another pan-Indian star – Yash – which they found funny, given that one of the many abounding theories is that the subject of Pushpa is not very different from that of KGF, with the makers replacing gold for sandalwood in Allu Arjun’s film franchise.
The second part of director Sukumar’s Pushpa saga is set to release in theatres across the world on December 5, 2024. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Jagapati Babu, Jagadeesh Prathap Bhandari, Prakash Raj, Sunil, Anusuya Bharadwaj, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Sritej, Tarak Ponnappa, among many others. In fact, when the trailer came out, Kannada actor Tarak’s look, with a half-shaved head, had been widely discussed. He told OTTplay that his, as-yet-undisclosed character will have a significant impact on the narrative and Allu Arjun’s character Pushpa’s life.
The film has reportedly been made at a budget of around Rs 400 cr to Rs 500 cr. It comes 3 years after the release of Pushpa: The Rise, which was made at half this budget and reportedly made a tad under Rs 400 cr in collections. Pushpa 2 is seen as the film that will challenge the box office records set by Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2.
