The Telugu film fraternity gathered in impressive numbers in Delhi to receive their National Awards as part of the presentation ceremony today. The industry recorded its best ever tally at the 69th National Awards, with four Telugu films grabbing 10 awards: RRR, Pushpa The Rise, Uppena, and Konda Polam. It was indeed a pretty sight to see top Telugu celebrities bond at the prestigious ceremony.

While composer MM Keeravaani went on to receive the Best Music Director (Background Score) for RRR from President Droupadi Murmu at the event, Allu Arjun not only cheered for the former but was all smiles, recording a video. The latter, seated beside Kriti Sanon, had won the first ever National Award for a Telugu actor for his magnificent portrayal as a sandalwood smuggler in Pushpa.

Apart from the composer, team RRR won 5 other awards under the Best Singer (Male, Kaala Bhairava), Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Action Choreography (King Solomon), Best Special Effects (Srinivas Mohan), and Best Choreography (Prem Rakshith) categories. The film, directed by SS Rajamouli, is produced by DVV Danayya of DVV Entertainment.

On the whole, RRR has won over 76 awards at film festivals and award ceremonies across the globe. It was also the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan recently. The film made over Rs 1,200 worldwide. The story revolves around a fictional story of a friendship between two real-life Telugu warriors — Alluri Seetha Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem — in the early 1920s.

Allu Arjun has worked with MM Keeravaani on two Telugu films before: his debut Gangotri and the action entertainer Badrinath. The latter had recently composed the music for Chandramukhi 2, the second part of the horror comedy franchise, starring Raghava Lawrence, Kangana Ranaut, Mahima Nambiar, Vadivelu, and Radhika Sarathkumar, which performed poorly at the box office.
