Allu Arjun arrest: Pushpa 2 actor walks out after night in jail; lawyer says it was illegal detention

A night after Allu Arjun was arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection to the stampede case that took place on the premiere day of Pushpa 2, the Telugu actor was released from the Chanchalguda prison in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Allu Arjun released from detention

Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rule may have broken the box office records to become the quickest film to enter 1000-crore club. However, the film also invited some trouble to Allu Arjun after a stampede occurred on the night of premiere show of the film on December 4. A woman died as a result of stampede at Sandhya Theatre, where Allu Arjun had visited.

In connection to this, Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday evening and subsequently remanded for 14 days. However, the actor was released from the Chanchalguda prison in the early hours of Saturday. Even as Allu Arjun was remanded to 14-day judicial custody, he was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court.

Ashok Reddy, Allu Arjun's lawyer said that they have received the order from High Court to release, and despite that he was not released. He also said that it was illegal detention and arrest, and that they will take a legal action.

Pushpa 2 box office collection day 9

Pushpa 2 has zoomed past the 1000-crore club, and shows no signs of stopping at the box office across the world. During its 9 days of theatrical run so far, the film has collected Rs 762 crore across languages in India alone. Pushpa 2 also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. The film is directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. A third part, titled Pushpa: The Rampage is in the making, with a release date yet to be announced.

Following Allu Arjun’s arrest, Rashmika Mandanna came in support of her co-star and said it is an “unfortunate and deeply saddening incident”. She added, “However, it is disheartening to see everything being blamed on a single individual. This situation is both unbelievable and heartbreaking.”
