All you need to know about Mimi actress Sai Tamhankar

Popular Marathi film actress Sai Tamhankar is currently hogging the limelight for her role in Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi. The film has her playing the role of Kriti's best friend and partner-in-crime.

However, did you know that Sai has already been a part of a big Hindi film before Mimi? That’s right. She was seen in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, way before Mimi happened.

Here are a few other things that you should know about her:

1. A sportsperson

Sai Tamhankar was more into sports than acting at one point in time. The actress, who is a state-level kabaddi player, is also an orange belt in karate.

2. Owns a sports team too

Sai has invested in the wrestling team named Kolhapuri Maavle. The wrestling airs on Zee Maharashtra Kushti Dangal.

3. Acting happened to her by luck

Sai was not actively pursuing acting. She worked in a play directed by her mother’s friend. It was after her second play Adhe Adhure and the appreciation for her performance (including the Best Actress award at the inter-college theatre competition) that Sai took acting seriously.

4. Made her debut with Subhash Ghai

Many people will be surprised to know that Sai did not make her debut in a Marathi film. She worked in Subhash Ghai’s crime thriller Black & White before making her Marathi cinema debut with Sanai Chaughade. Both the projects had released in the same year - 2008.

5. Seen in Ghajini too

Sai played the role of Sunita (Jiah Khan)’s friend in Ghajini. Sunita was responsible for helping Sanjay Singhania cope with his STML (short-term memory loss).

6. Made her web series debut with Samantar 2

Sai is a part of Swwapnil Joshi-Nitish Bhardwaj’s superhit web series Samantar. She entered the show in its second season. The actress played an interesting role in the series streaming on MX Player. However, there is still no certainty whether the show will have another season.
