Alia Bhatt trolled for lying about 'not wanting a destination wedding' as Neetu Kapoor's interview resurfaces

Yesterday marked Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's first wedding anniversary! The couple wed on April 14 of last year in a private ceremony at their home, but it appeared that they had been planning a destination wedding for quite some time. Many internet users blasted Alia Bhatt for outright lying when an old video of her and Neetu Kapoor making promises regarding the wedding gained popularity.

A user posted a video cut of Alia Bhatt and Neetu Kapoor discussing the Brahmastra actress' marriage to Ranbir Kapoor on Reddit. The seasoned diva Neetu claimed that Ranbir and Alia had initially intended to have a destination wedding in her interview. "Ranbir and Alia had planned so much that ‘We’ll go to South Africa, we’ll do a recce,’ and eventually, where did they do it (marry)? At their home. Since two years we were planning we’ll go here, and we were seeing pictures. We were completely going nuts. But this was the best,” she shared.

Neetu's statements, however, appear to be at odds with what Alia stated in one of her interviews from 2022. Alia had criticised destination weddings in an interview she had given to Mid-Day, adding, "I don’t like show off, it’s actually very stressful for me. The idea of taking people and travelling to another location and setting up that place. That’s just too stressful for me. We are not like big kind of celebratory people."

Redditors quickly expressed their opinions about the videos! Some stood up for Alia, but others continued to accuse her of lying.

One user wrote, "Makes me believe that the pregnancy was actually unplanned and then they rushed their wedding i guess?”

 While another added, "The problem with Alia is that she lies a lot, even when we have videos and interviews to dispute her lies. Remember when she made a big deal of a media report saying Ranbir was going to pick her up to then actually have that happen. Like she lies, knowing well that it is easy to get the truth." 

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot on April 14, 2022 in an intimate wedding at their Mumbai residence.
