Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt have landed in Kolkata to promote Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The lead actors of the Karan Johar-directed film launched the latest song, Dhindora Baje Re, at an event held in the City of Joy. In the film, Ranveer plays the role of a Punjabi in Delhi, while Alia plays a Bengali.

At the song launch, the actors were asked how they made sure not to stereotype the Bengalis and Punjabis, knowing that artists now walk on a thin line. To which Alia stated, "I think it's a very, very important question, and I completely empathise with that because none of us want to see stereotyped characters in today's day and age. There has to be a lot of referencing. I kind of relied a lot, for example, on Churni ma'am (Churni Ganguly) and Tota sir (Tota Roy Chowdhury), and a lot on just the general creative. Our main dialogue writer is a Bengali herself, Ishita Moitra, and I think she was very sensitive about that as well. But I think we attempt everything because we are very aware of it, and the rest will be left in the audience's hands.

Ranveer went on to share, "I feel that when you're depicting certain tropes of certain cultures, we should be open to keeping things light. I'm somebody who can very easily take a joke on myself, so I'm cool with him. I feel like this is Karan Johar's most humorous film, and I hope that the audience senses that from the trailer and comes in to have fun and to have a good laugh."

Meanwhile, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. The romantic comedy is slated to hit the big screen on July 28, 2023.
