Alappuzha Gymkhana trailer is out! Naslen K Gafoor of Premalu fame is back to entertain you with his charm and comedy skills. Director Khalid Rahman and his team have unveiled the Alappuzha Gymkhana trailer, which gives a glimpse of all the fun, comedy and chaos that are going to unfold on the big screen. The film, touted to be a sports comedy, also stars Lukman Avaran, and Ganapathi S. Poduval in other key roles.
Malayalam’s young star Naslen is seen as JoJo Johnson, a teenager who decides to try his hand at boxing along with his buddies. The trailer opens with the famed backwaters of Alappuzha as JoJo and his motley group are introduced as Naslen insists 'DJ' to land power punches.
The trailer then cuts to scenes from the boxing ring even as JoJo screams 'Arpooo' which is a call made during the boat races of Alappuzha, another aspect that makes the district popular. It is evident that Khalid Rahman has brilliantly woven in the aesthetics of the land where the movie is set in even while narrating a sports comedy.
The 2.38-minute trailer is sprinkled with enough punch dialogue from Naslen, who is known for his quirky yet nuanced performance. Lukman Avaran as the national-level coach, and Ganapathi S. Poduval as a fellow buddy in the boxing ring also appear in the trailer. The final scenes of the trailer concentrate on the boxing, with Jojo summing up to wait and watch for the real action.
Earlier during an interview, director Khalid Rahman had revealed the plot of the upcoming Malayalam film. He said that the light-hearted film is about a bunch of youngsters, who fail to clear the plus-two exam. They then come up with an idea to secure admission to colleges through a sports quota. They decide to compete in a state-level boxing competition to join a college in Alappuzha. The film will humorously track their misadventures in their mission.
Alappuzha Gymkhana is all set to hit theatres this Vishu 2025, as a festival release. The film will reportedly hit theatres on April 3. Interestingly, the film with a predominantly young cast comes right in between the release of two biggies from Malayalam. Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan will be out this week, while Mammootty’s Bazooks will be released on April 10, a week after Alappuzha Gymkhana.
