Khalid Rahman, who has helmed some interesting films such as Unda and Thallumaala, has joined hands with Naslen K Gafoor of Premalu fame for a sports comedy, titled Alappuzha Gymkhana. The film also features Ganapathi in a key role, and the makers have now released his character poster from the movie.
Ganapathi, who was part of the terrific Manjummel Boys, is set to appear in the role of Deepak Panikkar in Alappuzha Gymkhana. Dressed in sports attire, with gloves on, Ganapthi is seen striking a boxing pose in the character poster.
Describing his character, the makers wrote in the caption that Deepak is 'Independent by nature, heroic by choice'.

Apart from Naslen and Ganapathi, the film also features Lukman Avaran in a key role. The makers had earlier revealed that Lukman will be playing the role of Antony Joshua , who is described as a ‘National champ and relentless coach' in his character poster.
Sandeep Pradeep, Franco Francis, Baby Jean, and Karthik are the other youngsters in the cast, and all their character posters showed them as part of the boxing squad. Notably, the Alappuzha Gymkhana team is yet to unveil the character poster of lead actor Naslen. But the young star featured in the first-look poster of the sports comedy.
Khalid Rahman has also written the script for Alappuzha Gymkhana along with Sreeni Saseendran. The film will have music by Vishnu Vijay, who is set to collaborate with Khalid Rahman after Thallumaala, which featured Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Interestingly, Vishnu Vijay also scored the music for Premalu, which starred Naslen along with Mamitha Baiju.
The songs of both Thallumaala and Premalu struck a chord with youngsters, and it would be interesting to see what Vishnu Vijay would be coming up with for Alappuzha Gymkhana.
Jimshi Khalid serves as the cinematographer, while Nishadh Yusuf is the editor. The film is produced by Khalid Rahman, Jobin George, Sameer Karat and Subeesh Kannanchery.
Some reports say that Alappuzha Gymkhana could release by the end of March 2025, thus clashing with Prithviraj’s L2 Empuraan, starring Mohanlal.
