Akshaye Khanna’s OTT debut State Of Siege: Temple Attack to premiere on Zee5

Actor Akshaye Khanna is set to make his OTT debut with State Of Siege: Temple Attack on Zee5. The film is expected to premiere soon. It is based on the 2002 Akshardham temple terror strike in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Directed by Ken Ghosh, State Of Siege: Temple Attack is the retelling of the events of September 22, 2004 at Akshardham in Gujarat where attacks on the temple led to over 30 people losing their lives and over 80 getting injured. The film focuses on the National Security Guard (NSG) that ended the siege by killing the terrorists.

Speaking of his role in the film, Akshaye Khanna said he felt privileged to wear the uniform and exercised caution to respect it.

He issued a statement and said, "To be able to wear 'the uniform' without taking the oath of the ultimate sacrifice this is a privilege that only an actor is afforded. My only focus during the making has been not to disrespect that privilege."

Khanna plays the role of a special task force officer.

Discussing the plot of the film, producer Abhimanyu Singh stated that the role of Indian commandos in neutralizing attacks has been scarcely covered and the film was written to present their perspective and immeasurable contribution.

"Very rarely have we highlighted the role of the Indian commandos in neutralising attacks by our enemies. The 'State Of Siege' series was designed to give their perspective and contribution. The success of 'State Of Siege: 26/11' encouraged us to tell these stories further and the obvious extension for us was to chronicle the events of the temple attack that shook the nation," he said.

State Of Siege: Temple Attack is the second installment in the State of Siege series, the first being web series State Of Siege: 26/11 that depicted the terrifying events at Taj Hotel in Mumbai during the 26/11 attack.

Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Pictures is the producer of this Akshaye Khanna starrer. Lt. Col (retd.) Sundeep Sen, a consultant on the State of Siege: 26/11 and the second in Command at the NSG on 26/11 in Mumbai, will also provide his expert opinion for the film.

State Of Siege: Temple Attack will premiere on digital streaming service Zee5 soon.
