Akshay Oberoi is one of the prominent actors in the Hindi film industry. The actor is known for his performances in films and shows including Piku, Gurgaon, Fitoor, Gaslight, Fighter, The Broken News Season 2, and more. Recently, it was announced that the actor will play a pivotal role in Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. The film, which is a romantic comedy, was officially announced earlier this year.

Now, in an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Akshay shared his excitement to be a part of the film, directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan. Speaking about being part of the project, Akshay Oberoi said, “I’m very excited for Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari and those (Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor) are very popular stars. I greatly admire anyone who’s got the audience’s attention like Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Varun Dhawan, and Janhvi Kapoor."
"All these people are really loved by the audience and it helps actors like me as we get a chance to be noticed by the audience. On top of that, it's Karan Johar and Shashank Khaitan's film and it will get a lot of eyeballs so I’m happy to be a small part of it," he added.
Meanwhile, Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari is the second collaboration of Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan after their 2023 movie Bawaal. The on-screen pairing of the actors was appreciated by the audience and with the writing and direction of Shashank Khaitan, who is known for the hit Dulhaniya series (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya, starring Varun and Alia Bhatt), fans are excited to watch what the makers have in store with this film.
The film, which also stars Maneish Paul, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf in pivotal roles, is set to release in theaters on April 18, 2025.
