The 2003 romantic musical film Andaaz, starring Akshay Kumar, is set to get a sequel. Andaaz 2 will be directed by Suneel Darshan.

2003 was the year Andaaz, starring Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Lara Dutta, hit the big screen. Directed by Raj Kanwar, the movie was successful at the box office. 20 years down the line, Suneel Darshan, who produced Andaaz, has confirmed its sequel. In an interview with an entertainment portal, Suneel revealed that Andaaz 2 will go on floors tomorrow.

While Raj Kanwar directed Andaaz, the second installment will be helmed by Suneel Darshan. Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Suneel revealed Andaaz 2 will feature three new faces in pivotal roles. On the other hand, the music will be given by Nadeem of Nadeem-Shravan fame. On the other hand, the lyrics will be penned by Sameer and Nadeem.
"20 years after the release of 2003’s hit Andaaz, which launched then newcomers Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra opposite Akshay Kumar, I am about to commence the filming of Andaaz 2. The shoot begins from tomorrow," he told the portal.

Lara Dutta on 20 years of Andaaz
Earlier this year, when Andaaz completed 20 years, Lara had penned a heartfelt note on Instagram. The actress shared her film's poster on social media.
A part of it read, "What an incredible, exhilarating journey!!! Always grateful!. First of all to the audience and fans!. To suneeldarshan for offering me my first film and being the wonderful, cultured, caring person he is. My dearest Raj ji for being the most patient teacher My forever most handsome, most fun , always there for me, @akshaykumar For just being who he is!!! (sic)."

Andaaz marked Lara Dutta's Bollywood debut. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, too, was a newcomer when the film was released in 2003. The two actresses shared screen space with Akshay Kumar in the film. The movie was written by Robin Bhatt, Shyam Goel and Jainendra Jain.
