Akshay Kumar says he would not enter politics and that he is content working in the film industry. On Sunday night, the actor gave a speech at the book launch for Hindujas and Bollywood, which took place at the Institute of Directors on Pall Mall in the heart of London. When asked about entering politics, Kumar stated he tries to contribute through his work in movies. His most recent work was the film Raksha Bandhan, which deals with dowry and was directed by Aanand L. Rai.
As per PTI, the actor, who attended as the event's special guest, stated that making movies makes him very happy. He does all in his power as an actor to address societal issues. Kumar has made 150 movies, but Raksha Bandhan is the one he loves the most. The actor added that he makes commercial movies, occasionally tackling social concerns. Every year, he makes three to four films.
As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, Kumar has previously predicted that Bollywood box office disputes would occur more frequently. Raksha Bandhan, his upcoming feature film, and Laal Singh Chadha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, are slated to compete for top box office honours when they both hit theatres on August 11. The 52-year-old star expressed his desire for both movies to do well at the box office.
Earlier, in a press conference, he shared that it's a significant day and a three-day weekend. Kumar thinks two movies could easily run at the box office. The industry has lost two and a half years as a result of COVID-19. Thus, this collision will occur, and two movies will be released in the same week. In the past, Kumar's Welcome and Aamir's Taare Zameen Par had simultaneous releases and did well. He's expecting these new movies to be successful as well.
After 2021's Atrangi Re, Akshay Kumar and director Aanand L Rai have teamed up again for the comedy-drama Raksha Bandhan. Kumar stated that he would like to collaborate with Rai once more because he has enjoyed working with the director so much. He continued by saying that when Rai told him the Raksha Bandhan narrative, he immediately agreed to it.
The actor said that some tales have universal appeal and can move one in just five minutes of narration. Even with Good Newz, he liked it and gave it the okay after three to five minutes.
Kumar added that he had fun making this movie and it's among his best movies. The actor is grateful to Aanand L. Rai for breaking his record of producing two movies in a calendar year, and Rai has a sterling character. If Raksha Bandhan is successful, they will work together again on a third movie.
Raksha Bandhan is a Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films collaboration.
