Akshay Kumar is known for always having back-to-back releases for which he is shooting round-the-clock. When one project ends, he always hops onto the other. Currently, the actor is awaiting the release of Bachchhan Paandey, a Hindi remake of 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda.
At a recent media event where he was promoting the new film, Kumar spoke about why he is constantly working.
"Today I have everything in life, I lead a good life. I can easily sit at home and not earn but what about others who want to work (and earn money)? I am working today not because of money but for passion. The day I feel disinterested is when I will stop working," he said, according to Hindustan Times.
Bachchhan Paandey unites Kumar with Farhad Samji, who directed him in Housefull 4. The film also stars Arshad Warsi, Kriti Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhimanyu Singh, Sanjay Mishra, Prateik Babbar and Jacqueline Fernandez. Sajid Nadiadwala is the producer.
Bachchhan Paandey follows Myra Devekar, an aspiring director who has to come up with a gangster biopic.
Here is the official synopsis of the film: "She decides to make a biopic on a real life gangster! Satisfying the producers need for commercialism and her hunger for making a realistic film. Her extensive research only leads to one name, the most menacing, one eyed 'Bachchhan Paandey' of Baghwa. Myra tries her best to find out about him, with the help of an old friend, to develop a film script, but fails miserably in all her attempts. When she finally gets the chance to gain an insight into Bachchhan's life, she ends up getting caught by Bachchhan Paandey."
Coming back to Kumar's long-list of upcoming films, his comedy Selfiee with Emraan Hashmi went on floors today. Then he has Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Mission Cinderella, Gorkha, OMG 2 and Amazon Prime Video series The End.
Bachchhan Paandey will be out in cinemas on March 18.
