Readers may recall that, when there was a buzz about Akshay Kumar doing a film on miners and on the life of the daredevil Jaswant Gill, the audiences were super excited to see the film. During the initial days, the film was called ‘Capsule Gill’. The film’s makers, then, made an official announcement about the film being titled ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’, whose teaser and trailer was appreciated immensely by many.

Today, after the film has been released, many cinegoers and critics simply cannot stop praising the splendid work of Akshay Kumar in the film. In a recent media interaction, Akshay Kumar revealed the reason why he said yes to do the film. The actor said that he immediately liked the film (Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue) when the director Tinu Suresh Desai had told him about the story. He added that, except for a film called’ Kala Patthar’, not many had made a film which was based on coal mining and the life and the problems of the workers there.

Akshay Kumar, then, recalled his conversation with Jaswant Gill (on whom the film is based). The actor revealed that, when he spoke to Jaswant Gill, he had told him to do the role as sardar only and not to forget to wear a turban. The actor added that he just did not know of anyone who would risk their lives and go underground to save the lives of many, which was something that Jaswant Gill did. He also highlighted the fact that the miners spend as many as 12-15 hours underground where they get transported through a capsule in a bunch of 15-20 people.

Akshay Kumar, then, added that, even though he knew that the commercial value of such films were not as big as ‘Singh Is Kinng’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawaan’, films like ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue' was about knowing and knowledge. He also added that, everything was not about what money can give him, things were also about what he can give to society. That, Akshay Kumar said, was the reason why he said yes to the film. He also expressed his gratitude towards Tinu Suresh Desai for getting the film to him.

As for the film 'Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue', besides Akshay Kumar, it stars Parineeti Chopra as the leading lady. The film also stars Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Rajesh Sharma in prominent roles.
