Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his next release, director-producer Aanand L Rai’s next venture, Raksha Bandhan. And, according to a news report by Zee News, he enjoyed playing his role in the movie that, in his opinion, portrays the lives and problems of a middle-class Indian family. He further added that the film also stresses the responsibility of marrying family members off.
“I had a lot of fun playing my role in Raksha Bandhan. It is a character that belongs to a middle-class family embroiled in everyday middle-class problems, trying to make ends meet and having the responsibility of getting his four sisters married,” he told the news channel when quizzed about his takeaway from the movie.
When Akshay was asked what makes this movie stand out from his other projects, he said that he has "strangely" never worked on a movie that is about the brother-sister bond, a relationship that he defines as "unique" and "universal". "I’ve essayed many roles in my career. Strangely, I haven’t worked in a film which focuses on this special brother-sister bond, something which is so relatable and universal. Actually, I don’t think we have many such films in our industry. So, in that sense, I've got to try something new," said Kumar.
For the unversed, Raksha Bandhan stars Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar in lead roles, alongside Neeraj Sood, Seema Pahwa, Sadia Khateeb, Abhilash Thapliyal, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth, and Sahejmeen Kaur.
The film has been co-produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma in association with Zee Studios and Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films. It is slated for release on August 11, 2022.
