Akshay Kumar won appreciation for his performance in the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror comedy featured Akshay as Dr Aditya Srivastav. The movie worked well at the box office. When Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was announced without Akshay, ardent fans of the franchise were disappointed. The actor was replaced in the second and third installment of BB by Kartik Aaryan. Now, in an interview, Akshay has finally revealed the reason he wasn't a part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, a fan asked Akshay Kumar why he wasn't a part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3. To this, the actor said, "Beta, mujhe nikaal diya tha (I was removed). That's it." For the uninitiated, there were rumors about Akshay's cameo in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. However, the actor had dismissed the speculation by calling it 'fake news'.
Earlier, in an interview with News18, Anees Bazmee spoke about making Bhool Bhulaiyaa's new installments without Akshay.
"Akshay ji was so good in Bhool Bhulaiyaa that the thought of having a sequel without him was tough. But we made Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with a lot of earnestness and heart with the resources available at hand. Once it released, people liked Kartik as much as they had liked Akshay ji. I want to work with him again and again. He’s a very special person for me," the filmmaker said.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay is gearing up for the release of his movie Sky Force. The actor has been promoting the film with his co-star Veer Pahariya. The young actor will be making his Bollywood debut with the film. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force is set for a theatrical release on January 24, 2025. The movie also stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan.
