Akhil Akkineni is lying low without a proper hit in his career. His last film, Agent ended as a massive flop at the box office and is yet to release on OTT. Sony Liv has bagged the digital rights to the film. It has been over nine months since Agent was released and Akhil has yet to announce a new film.
Sometime back, there was news that UV Creations, the home banner of Prabhas will be producing a film with Akhil that will be directed by a debutante Anil Kumar. Now, the buzz in the Tollywood film circles is that Hombale Films, the makers of Salaar and KGF will be co-producing the film along with UV Creations.
Hombale Films to co-produce Akhil's next
Akhil was seen at the success bash of Salaar held in Bangalore a few days ago and this raised so many doubts in the minds of many. The said project was supposed to be announced right after the release of Agent but as the film flopped, the project was put on hold.
UV Creations has taken the mantle of setting up a proper project for Akhil. That is the reason they have approached Hombale and are making sure things fall into place script-wise and then take the film on floors. Despite Agent ending as a big flop, the makers of Akhil's next are putting big money into this new film which is an action drama laced with romance and thrill.
Akhil disappointed with Agent's failure
Akhil had given three years of his life to Agent, worked hard on his body, and attained a chiseled look. Surender Reddy directed Agent and he was helming this film after the success of Sye Raa. Anil Sunkara produced Agent on a massive scale. But sadly, the film ended in massive losses for Anil Sunkar who lost close to Rs 20 crore and is nowhere to be seen these days.
Akhil, on his behalf, has maintained a silence and did not face the media to date. He has pinned all his hopes on this new film and now that Hombale has decided to co-produce the film, we need to see if Akhil scores a hit or not in his career.
