It was exactly a year ago that AK 62 (tentative title) was announced by Lyca Productions. The Ajith-starrer was supposed to be helmed by Vignesh Shivan and Anirudh was roped in to compose music for the project. There weren't many updates on the project as fans were waiting for the star's Thunivu which hit the screens in January this year.

When movie buffs were looking forward to an update on the movie, the series of developments surprised one and all. The director was shown the door after creative differences cropped up between him and production house.

Though there hasn't been an official update on the same yet, Vignesh's change in bio on his Twitter page suggested his ouster from the much-awaited project. After a host of speculations, the name of Magizh Thirumeni started surfacing on social media with regard to directing the movie.

He is said to have come on board for helming the film, but an official update is still pending, leaving fans of Ajith and other cinephiles confused. The initial plan was to release AK 62 for Deepavali. However, with the unexpected change in developments, it looks like a distant dream.

Fans have been tagging the production house almost every other day in their Twitter posts to enquire for updates on the movie. Lyca Productions is currently busy with Ponniyin Selvan 2, Chandramukhi 2, Lal Salaam and Thiruvin Kural. It's been more than two months since Thunivu released, and fans are impatiently waiting for that official confirmation.

Meanwhile, Vignesh is said to be teaming up with Pradeep Ranganathan for a movie which is likely to be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Red Giant Movies.
