The trailer for the upcoming film Ajmer-92 has been released, and the film promises to show a hard-hitting story of gang rape that took place in Ajmer, Rajasthan, in 1992.

The film is based on the Ajmer rape case that was extensively reported in the media, and it shows how a group of caretakers of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah raped 250 girls and later blackmailed them to stay silent. Eventually, the case went to court, and the law took its course.

Talking about the film, Pushpendra Singh, director of the film, said in a press statement, "For me, it was an emotional and impactful subject. Given the delicate nature of this sensitive subject, it was crucial to handle it with utmost care."

He also said that as a storyteller, he tried to maintain the authenticity of the story and the portrayal of agony.

As the film shows how media coverage helped shed light on the case, Karan, who is playing the journalist in the film, shared how challenging it was for him to take up such a character in just his second film.

Karan stated, "Undertaking the lead role in Ajmer-92 proved to be highly demanding, given its profound and meaningful subject matter. The process of depicting the journalist in the movie was a transformative experience, paving the way for new challenges and horizons for me."

He made his debut with the Ajay Devgn-starrer Bhuj: The Pride of India.

The film, produced by Umesh Narwadeshwar Tiwari and presented by Reliance Entertainment, also stars Rajesh Sharma, Zarina Wahab, Brijendra Kala, Sayaji Shinde, and Manoj Joshi, among others, and releases in theatres on July 21.
