The race to turn every movie into a franchise and transform those films into cinematic universes is at its peak in Hindi cinema right now. While Maddock Films’ Horror Universe is flourishing and leading the pack, many others are shaping up around it. Joining the race now is Panorama Studios, which is all set to turn the Ajay Devgn-starrer Shaitaan into a franchise and kickstart a Horror Cinematic Universe of sorts. Yes, you read that right. The studio has an elaborate plan, and here’s everything you need to know.
Shaitaan, starring Ajay Devgn, Jyothika, and R. Madhavan in lead roles, was released in 2024 and is a remake of the acclaimed 2023 Gujarati movie Vash. Despite being made just a year after the original, the movie managed to connect with audiences and achieve impressive box-office success. Now, the makers have gained enough confidence to expand the story and have already commissioned two sequels to the film. Additionally, an entire cinematic universe is reportedly in development.
Film scooper Rahul Raut shared on Twitter that Panorama Studios is building a Horror Cinematic Universe, with a remake of the Turkish movie Dabbe as its first project. The studio has also commissioned two sequels to the Ajay Devgn starrer Shaitaan, which suggests an ambitious plan is in motion. However, it remains unclear whether Shaitaan will be directly integrated into the Horror Cinematic Universe.

Raut’s tweet read: “Panorama Studios to create a HORROR CINEMATIC UNIVERSE. Turkish film #Dabbe's REMAKE will be the first project under this ambitious MOVIE UNIVERSE... The @AbhishekPathakk company also plans to turn #AjayDevgn's #Shaitaan into a franchise with its TWO SEQUELS already in the works.”
Interestingly, the Turkish movie Dabbe, which Panorama is remaking, is itself part of a franchise. Released in 2006, it spawned an entire series, including Dabbe 2, Dabbe: Demon Possession, Dabbe: Curse of the Jinn, Dabbe 5: Zehr-i-Cin, and Dabbe 6, with the final installment arriving in 2015.
