Ajay Devgn’s fans, rejoice! His most-awaited film ‘Maidaan’ is on track and is facing no hindrance from budget issues. Producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed the development. In the awaited sports drama, the 54-year-old star is expected to portray the life and journey of renowned Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

In an interview with news outlet HT City, Boney Kapoor – the producer of Maidaan – talked in detail about why the movie has not been released till date. “I recently showed some portions of the film to almost 300 people, and they loved it. The film’s shoot is complete; however, extensive VFX (visual effects) is underway, which is taking time. Contrary to what reports suggest, the budget has not been exceeded,” said Boney Kapoor.
Initially, Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan was supposed to be released in March this year. It was later postponed to June and then again got pushed to an unforeseen date.
Detailing further about the developments, Maidaan’s official spokesperson told HT City that the film is on track and there are no issues. Sources close to the news portal furthermore added that due to big releases like Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur being lined up ahead, the makers of Maidaan are finding it difficult to ascertain when the film should be released.

Maidaan is an upcoming biographical sports drama film helmed by director Amit Sharma and backed by the production team of Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Zee Studios. The film stars Ajay Devgn in the role of a football coach during the years spanning from 1952 to 1962, portraying the legendary Syed Abdul Rahim. Additionally, the movie features Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh, and Gajraj Rao in prominent roles.
