Ajay Devgn attended the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2024 with Akshay Kumar. At the event, the Bollywood actors discussed their respective films, careers, and the film industry in general. Both Ajay and Akshay were asked if making a film costs more today because actors charge high salaries. To this, the actors shared their viewpoints and also revealed how actors charge fees for their projects.

Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar on stars' salaries

Ajay Devgn opened up about how actors charge salaries. "The actors charge according to scripts, films, and projects. And most of us are charging according to recoveries," he said. Akshay Kumar agreed with almost everything Ajay said.

He further mentioned, "If we sign a film today, we don't charge anything; we just take a stake. If it works, we get a share in the profit, but if it doesn't, we don't get any money." Explaining the same, Akshay said a share in the profit means actors are rewarded for successes and penalized for failures. Continuing this conversation, Ajay added, "Sometimes, there is no share, either. Then you have to let go of the price. That's also passion."

Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar on lack of unity in Bollywood

At the same event, the actors were asked about the perception that the South film industry has more unity than Bollywood. To this, Akshay said, "I agree that we don't have much unity. I don't know what Ajay thinks."

Sharing his opinion, Ajay stated, "It's not about openings, which are a different story together, as a lot of things come into play. But I really appreciate how they (the people in the south industries) come together and stand for each other as an industry, which, honestly speaking, we lack in the Mumbai film industry." The actor hoped that it would happen in Bollywood as well.

Meanwhile, Akshay and Ajay's latest release Singham Again has minted over Rs 200 crore at the box office. It had a theatrical release on November 1, 2024.
