Ajay Devgn appears to be in a strong position if, as many filmmakers and industry experts would have you think, franchise films are the key to success in the modern day. The star has seven upcoming feature films, three of which are sequels: Raid 2, De De Pyaar De 2, and Son of Sardaar 2. 2025 will see the release of all three of these films. This year, he will also be filming the newest installment of Dhamaal, while the scripts for Drishyam 3, Shaitaan 2, and Golmaal 5 are currently under development.
As per Mid Day, Devgn is currently fully devoted to De De Pyaar De 2 by filmmaker Anshul Sharma. The 12-day shoot will take place at multiple locations in Mumbai, and the actor will be joined by Rakul Preet Singh and R. Madhavan, according to a source. Midway through February, the team will fly to Punjab for the last part of filming, when they will tape two songs and a few dramatic situations.
Once the romantic comedy concludes, Devgn will immediately dive into his action comedy. The insider confirms that the movie starring Mrunal Thakur and Ravi Kishan will conclude, and Ajay will also film a song for Son of Sardaar 2 in Punjab.
The actor will make a triumphant comeback to the Dhamaal universe this summer, following a six-year absence since starring in Total Dhamaal (2019). Devgn will reconnect with series regulars Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, and Jaaved Jaaferi for Indra Kumar's directorial venture, although Total Dhamaal actors Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit-Nene won't be appearing in it.
The crew will begin filming in Mumbai in March, with a lengthy itinerary that culminates in April in Goa, according to a source. Preparing for a Diwali release, Kumar has secured the majority of the cast's dates and plans to film the comedy nonstop till August. Ajay and Bhushan Kumar, among others, produced the adventure comedy, which had scripts written by Paritosh Painter, Balwinder Singh Suri, and Bunty Rathore.
Devgn will begin filming Drishyam 3, one of his most beloved series, by the end of the year. There are rumours that the writers for the Malayalam and Hindi versions of the murder thriller are actively working on the script, with director Jeethu Joseph leading the Malayalam team.
Another source stated that the plan is to shoot Mohanlal's Malayalam and Ajay's Hindi versions simultaneously in 2026.
