There’s no backing down as Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 are set to lock horns at the Diwali box office.

On Diwali, theatregoers will have their pick of two entertainers: Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn and the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan. Unfortunately for the makers, what is a twofold delight for the audience becomes a nightmare for them. Rohit Shetty, Devgn of Singham Again, and producer Bhushan Kumar of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 reportedly met last week to discuss the upcoming clash, as Midday learnt with less than two months until the festival premieres.
Box office potential and concerns
As per the tabloid, the goal was straightforward: to find out whether the two films could avoid competing with each other and instead make the most of their box office potential. The next installments of both series promise to set the cash registers ringing, and both have grown enormous fan bases over the years.
Bhushan thinks Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 might both earn Rs. 500 crore, according to a source informing the tabloid. However, he believed that the films would be unable to reach their maximum potential due to the conflict. Consequently, he asked Rohit and Ajay to get their film out sooner rather than later.
Rumour has it that Bhushan took issue with the fact that Anees Bazmee was the first to reveal the horror comedy's Diwali release date, which also features Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, and Triptii Dimri.
Previous postponement of Singham Again
Another source revealed that they had already postponed Singham Again's initial Independence Day release due to Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule scheduled to open theatres on the same day. They aim to avoid highlighting this issue again. Delaying it further won't help matters, the actor-director combo said of the highly anticipated police caper film.
From Golmaal Returns (2008) to Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017), Devgn and Shetty have an impressive record when it comes to their Diwali offerings. With an impressive ensemble that includes Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, and special cameos from Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh, Singham Again is arguably the most ambitious film by the team.
Request for postponing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
The source also revealed that Shetty asked Bhushan if Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 could come two weeks later, and the filmmaker was adamant about Singham Again. They may reconvene next week to continue their conversation.
The tabloid also reported that Singham Again will, as planned, premiere in theatres on Diwali, according to a press statement released by the film's producers on Tuesday evening.
