Aishwarya Rai Bachchan announces Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan wrap with an intriguing poster

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has announced the shoot wrap of Ponniyin Selvan. The actor who plays a double role as Nandini and Mandakini Dev in the film took to her Instagram page and shared the latest poster. Aishwarya has collaborated with veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam after a decade for this multistarrer period film based on the Ponniyin Selvan novel by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. Along with the poster, it has also been announced that the much-awaited film will be out in Summer 2022.

A few days back, photos of Aishwarya from the sets of Ponniyin Selvan leaked online. The actor looked gorgeous in a heavy saree teamed up with temple jewellery while she stood tall ahead of giving the shot. 

Meanwhile, a couple of years ago, Aishwarya had dropped hints about reuniting with Mani after a long time. She called it a 'back to school' moment and showed her excitement to work with her 'guru'.

The actor told Film Companion. "What I will commit to is even though Mani hasn't formally announced it himself, I'm working with him. The word is out so I'm committing to that fact and I don't have to agree. I'll always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled, and just happy to work with my guru. So, ya that's happening. Back to school."

Aishwarya is returning to the movies after a hiatus of two years, while she has been shooting for the film for nearly two years now.

Ponniyin Selvan features who's who from the world of South film industry namely Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi. Even Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu and Ashwin Kakumanu feature in pivotal roles.

The music for Ponniyin Selvan is done by AR Rahman while Ravi Varman is the cinematographer. 

The film will be released in two instalments and the first one will be out in 2022.
