Fans of Signal are eagerly anticipating Season 2, and Ahn Jae Hong may be joining the cast. Although Koo Kyo Hwan was originally being considered for the drama, Hankyung revealed on December 23 that Ahn Jae Hong is now being considered to replace him as a new character in the sequel.
As per reports in Soompi, MMM, of Ahn Jae Hong's agency, said in reaction to the story that the actor has received an offer to appear in Signal 2 and is positively reviewing it. Koo Kyo Hwan's side noted simultaneously that Signal 2 was just one of the projects he was considering.
Ahn Jae Hong's potential role remains unknown to the public. On the other hand, if everything checks out, Ahn Jae Hong and Lee Je Hoon will reunite for the first time since their 2020 Netflix original film Time to Hunt.
The highly anticipated second season of tvN's 2016 smash drama Signal has officially begun filming earlier this year.
Kim Eun-hee wrote Signal, a South Korean drama starring Cho Jin-woong, Lee Je-hoon, and Kim Hye-soo, while Kim Won-seok directed it. The plot is based on the 2000 film Frequency and true crime stories from Korea, such as the Hwaseong serial killings.
In the year 2015, criminal profiler Park Hae-young (Lee Je-hoon) stumbles upon an enigmatic walkie-talkie. To Hae-young's bewilderment, the person on the other end—Detective Jae-han (Cho Jin-woong)—appears to be someone from a bygone era and speaks to him in a familiar manner, despite the fact that they have never met. With the help of Jae-han, Hae-young is able to find the truth about a murder and kidnapping that occurred fifteen years ago involving a childhood classmate of his. Detective Cha Soo-hyun (Kim Hye-soo), who has been looking for her mentor and unrequited love Jae-han for the last fifteen years, leads a cold case team after this investigation's triumph.
In addition to solving the mystery surrounding Jae-han's disappearance in 2000, Hae-young, aided by Jae-assistance Han from the 1990s, unravels other long-standing cold cases. In the midst of their efforts to rectify the past and apprehend the culprits, they encounter unforeseen consequences in the present.
Both viewers and critics were quite complimentary of the show's plot and acting. At its peak, it had 12.544% of the cable television audience watching, making it one of the most-watched Korean dramas of all time.
