Sony Liv has bagged the OTT rights of Akhil's Agent

Akhil Akkineni gave over two years of his time for Agent. He made a solid transformation but all this did not go in favor of the film as Agent ended as a massive disaster at the box office. Surender Reddy directed this film which had Mammootty in a key role. The producer, Anil Sunkara made Agent on a budget of Rs 80 crores and lost big money as the film was out from several theaters within three days of its release.
Sony LIV bought the OTT rights of the film and Agent was supposed to be out on May 19, 2023, but that did not happen. We at OTTplay had exclusively reported that the action drama will be out on the 23rd of June. But that also did not happen. The reason for the delay is not yet known but fans and the general audience who wanted to watch the film on OTT are sorely disappointed.
Well, the film's producer, Anil Sunkara has finally opened up about the digital release. Speaking in an interview, he revealed that the news regarding the re-edit is false and the content is ready for the OTT screening but the team at Sony Liv has delayed the release for reasons only known to them. "From my side everything is clear. Only the team of Sony Liv can answer why the film has been delayed" said Anil Sunkara.
There was a rumor going around that as there is an issue between the producers and Sony Liv regarding the financial aspect, the film is yet to start streaming. But Anil Sunkara cleared the air and said the deal is closed with Sony Liv and there are no such issues between them.
Anil Sunkara is back in the news as his new film Bholaa Shankar megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to release on August 12, 2023, in a big way. Anil Sunkara already the promotion of the film a few days back. Watch this space to know the digital release date of Agent.
