If there's one show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has undergone a journey of title changes, it's Agatha All Along. Over the past three years, this show has seen more than four title revisions and has been highly anticipated since its announcement in 2021. The excitement surrounding the show is fueled by several factors: it continues the story from WandaVision, one of the most acclaimed MCU shows on Disney+, and it brings back Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, a character that quickly became a fan favorite. After much anticipation, it's finally been revealed that the show will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar in September this year. To add to the excitement, the makers have just released the trailer, and it promises an exhilarating ride.
In case you missed it, the D23 event took place this morning in the West, where Disney fans were treated to a slew of exciting announcements. The Marvel Cinematic Universe segment was particularly anticipated, with projects like Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, and, of course, Agatha All Along taking center stage. The cast of Agatha All Along even gave a special performance, debuting a new song from the show. Along with the performance, the trailer was released exclusively to the audience at the event and later made available online.
The trailer for Agatha All Along has now dropped, and it's a thrilling mix of spooky, fun, and dramatic moments. It starts with Joe Locke’s mysterious character freeing Agatha from the spell that the Scarlet Witch cast on her before her demise. Now powerless, Agatha is determined to regain her abilities. She assembles a group of witches and embarks on the perilous Witches’ Road, a journey deemed suicidal. Aubrey Plaza’s eerie appearance in the trailer adds an extra layer of intrigue, making it a highlight. The adventure unfolds with Kathryn Hahn leading the charge, showcasing her incredible talent.
According to Comic Book Movie, Joe Locke describes Agatha All Along as a dark comedy centered around witches. The storyline is intriguing, with Locke’s character playing a pivotal role in freeing Agatha from the Scarlet Witch's spell, setting off the events of the show. The Teen character convinces Agatha to embark on the treacherous journey down the Witches' Road, forming a coven of unlikely allies. Locke comments, "We gather a coven and a very unlikely group of women—and me, which is my life in general—[to] get on the Witches' Road. Then magic, fun, and mystery prevail."
Locke also mentioned that Agatha All Along is unlike any other project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Promising numerous twists and turns, he adds, "In the same way WandaVision explores different subgenres of comedies, Agatha does that in its own unique way. It’s definitely darker and even a little bit scary, which is great. I think it's a fantastic start for a new journey within the MCU, exploring characters that aren't like Iron Man or Captain America."
Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ Hotstar with two episodes on September 18, 2024. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
