After Stree’s horror-comedy success, Rajkummar Rao pairs up with Dinesh Vijan for a romantic-comedy? Here’s what we know

Rajkummar Rao and Dinesh Vijan found success in their very first collaboration, Stree. The film turned into a horror-comedy franchise, with Janhvi Kapoor’s Roohi and Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya being a part of the universe. Now, we hear that Rajkummar and Dinesh have collaborated again, this time for a romantic-comedy.

What we hear

PeepingMoon reports that Rajkummar Rao and Dinesh Vijan are collaborating on a film with Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead. The movie is touted to be a ‘quirky’ romantic-comedy set in a small town. It is about a couple caught up in an unusual situation. The film will be directed by Karan Sharma of SonyLIV series Maharani (featuring Huma Qureshi) fame (can also be streamed on OTTplay Premium). Details on the project are kept under the wraps, at least for now. The title of the movie is yet to be decided too.

While Karan Sharma is wrapping up Shiddat 2, featuring Wamiqa and Sunny Kaushal with, again Dinesh Vijan as the producer, Rajkummar is busy with Raaj Shaandilyaa’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Wamiqa is working on Baby John with Varun Dhawan. The movie, presented by Jawan director Atlee, is among one of the most-awaited projects.

Rajkummar’s collaboration with Dinesh

Apart from Stree, Rajkummar and Dinesh have collaborated on Made In China, Roohi, Hum Do Hamaare Do, Bhediya and Stree 2 (yet to release). As for Wamiqa, it is her second collaboration with them after Shiddat 2.

On the work front, apart from Stree 2, Rajkummar will also be seen in Tushar Hiranandani’s Srikanth Bolla biopic and Dharma Productions’ Mr. and Mrs. Mahi. The former will release on May 10. Rajkummar will also be seen in the second season of Raj and DK’s Guns and Gulaabs. He is also likely to sign another project but the same is at a very nascent stage.
