When the film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ was released in the year 1994 (November 4 to be precise), the film opened to a mixed response at the box-office. Even though today, many may simply term the film as ‘ahead of its times’, still, the fact remains that the film has attained a cult-status. A recent interview with ‘Aaj Tak’ by the film’s director Rajkumar Santoshi truly shocked many.

In the said interview, Rajkumar Santoshi dropped a bombshell by saying that, in an interview with ‘Aaj Tak’, he shared, that while in recent times, films are promoted actively much before their release date, with multi-city tours and media collaborations, back then (at the time of the film’s release), neither Salman Khan nor Aamir Khan were in the city to promote the film and he himself was busy shooting somewhere else. He also added that, (for ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, there were activity related to the film and also no interaction with the media either and that whatever had to be done for the film’s publicity of the film, that too could not be done. He confessed that the distributors were also very angry. Even though there were no reactions or counter statements from either Aamir Khan or Salman Khan, a certain section of the audiences were a bit upset.
Post this interview, Priti Sinha (who happens to be the daughter of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’s producer Vinay Sinha), negated Rajkumar Santoshi's claims about Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s unavailability to promote his film in an interview with ‘The Times Of India’. She clarified that, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan not only promoted her father’s film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, but also helped to complete the film. She added that the film had taken four years to be completed and both Salman Khan and Aamir Khan made adjustments on their appointment diaries and helped in finiging the film.
As for Rajkumar Santoshi, his latest film ‘Bad Boy’ got released to an encouraging response, the film starred Mithun Chakraborty’s son Namashi Chakraborty (who made his Bollywood debut with the film) along with the film’s leading lady Amrin Qureshi.
