Prithvi Konanur's fourth feature film Hadinelentu, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2022, is all set to release theatrically. The self-produced film, which was nominated for the Kim Jiseok award at the same festival (English title as 'Seventeeners'), will arrive in cinema halls on June 23, 2023.
Written by Konanur and Anupama Hegde, Hadinelentu is centred on the lives of two teenagers, Deepa and Hari, who encounter a maze of complications and moral conundrums when a sex tape gets leaked. As anticipated, the issue spreads all across like wildfire and before one realizes it, more parties get involved as things begin to soon spiral out of control. The previous reviews of the film have lauded Prithvi Konanur's restrained and meditative approach to unravelling the deep-rooted biases and prejudices governing the incident.
The cast of Hadinelentu includes Sherlyn Bhosale, Neeraj Matthew, Rekha Kudligi, Bhavani Prakash, Ravi Hebballi, Nagendra Shaa and others. Here's the teaser of the film:
Known for his immersive, Cinéma Vérité-like style of filmmaking that also employs a mix of professional and non-professional artists, Prithvi Konanur has gradually created a niche for himself in the Kannada Film Industry. His previous two films, Pinki Elli? and Railway Children, have gained fame for their ability to draw poignant and compelling portraits of ordinary human life caught in exceptional circumstances.
And Hadinelentu would not be the only film of Konanur's that will be releasing this month in theatres. 'Pinki Elli?', the 2020 film which has been part of several Indian and international film festivals, is finally ready to release in theatres on June 2.
Akshatha Pandavapura, Gunjalamma, Deepak Subramanya, Sangamma and many others form the cast of the film which traverses the frantic journey of a young mother looking for her missing infant daughter. Pinki Elli? won Best Film at the 2021 Asian Film Festival Barcelona's 'Panorama Section Award' category. It was also adjudged the winner in the Kannada Cinema Competition of the 2021 edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
