The tracks from Santosh Sivan’s Jack N’ Jill have been slowly revealing the kind of mad ride that the movie, starring Manju Warrier, Soubin Shahir, Kalidas Jayaram and Basil Joseph, promises to be. After the viral track Kim Kim, which has already amassed over nine million views, the makers have released its new song – Enganokke Enganokke.

While Kim Kim was inspired by Kantha Thookunnu Thoomanam from the musical drama Paarijaathapushpaaharanam, Enganokke Enganokke has lyrics penned by Harinarayanan BK interspersed with short poems such as Vadakara Valavil and Aalathure Paalathumme by poet Kunjunni mash.

The song, which has both a rustic touch as well as rap, is sung by Sree Nanda and Ram Surendar, and truly reflects that mood of genre bender, which is touted to be a sci-fi, comedy entertainer set against a rural backdrop.

The film, which also has Shailee Kishen and Nedumudi Venu, has music by Jakes Bejoy, Ram Surendar and Gopi Sundar. Jack N’ Jill revolves around Manju Warrier’s character who has been experimented upon. Soubin plays a virtual assistant in the film, which will also be released in Tamil as Centimeter. The Tamil version has Yogi Babu essaying the role of Soubin’s character.

Jack N’ Jill marks Santosh’s third directorial in Malayalam after Anandhabhadram and Urumi, both of which had Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. The Malayalam star has also lent his voice for the narration of the film, which is slated to hit theatres on May 20. The movie had completed production in 2019 and was aiming at an April 2020 release. The pandemic, however, pushed its release for two years.

Santosh, meanwhile, is busy cranking the camera for Mohanlal’s directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The children’s fantasy movie is made in 3D and is expected to hit theatres this year. The film is currently being shot in Goa.
