Rumour mills have been working overtime as far as Mammootty’s next big budget Mollywood film is concerned. After reports that Manju Warrier would be playing the female lead in the movie, the recent ones suggest that Raveena Tandon has been roped in as part of the entertainer, which is directed by B Unnikrishnan.
When OTTplay reached out to the director, who had previously helmed Mohanlal’s Aaraattu, to confirm the casting, he denied that Raveena is part of the film. The Bollywood actress made her South comeback earlier this year with KGF: Chapter 2. However, the filmmaker said he doesn’t want to divulge anything more about the movie before it has gone on floors and would rather prefer people watching the movie rather than make claims about it before it has been screened.
There were also reports that Biju Menon and Indrajith Sukumaran too are part of the film, which is expected to go on floors next month. The movie, which has locations across India, is scripted by Udaykrishna.
Incidentally, Mohanlal was first offered the movie but the team decided to do Aaraattu instead as shooting outside Kerala wasn’t possible then due to the pandemic restrictions. The script, we hear, has undergone major revisions since then and the filmmaker also has made changes considering the feedback of Aaraattu, which didn’t quite create the intended stir at the box office earlier this year.
Unnikrishnan in an earlier interview with us, however, did say that the film will have enough to keep Mammootty fans happy. The megastar and the director had previously teamed for Pramani in 2010.
Meanwhile, Mammootty recently wrapped up the Kerala schedule of the thriller Rorschach, which is helmed by Nissam Basheer. The actor is expected to complete the final schedule of his Telugu movie Agent, which has Akhil Akkineni in the lead, and then shoot of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s segment in the Netflix anthology, based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories before joining B Unnikrishnan’s next.
