After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan aims to cement his franchise star status with Aashiqui 3 revival

It appears that Kartik Aaryan has learnt from the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 that heading a franchise is a clever strategy to engage the audience, and he is putting this knowledge to use in his next project. According to Midday, the actor is eager to reintroduce his romantic drama, rethought as a standalone film, as part of the Aashiqui series.

Background on Aashiqui 3 and its producer dispute

Much has transpired about the Aashiqui series since the announcement of the third instalment in 2022. Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt planned to produce the Kartik Aaryan-led romantic drama, while Anurag Basu directed it. But then the producers started bickering about who got to own the franchise. Finally, in March of this year, the T-Series boss publicly announced his decision to support the Aaryan-Basu project independently, renaming it Tu Aashiqui Hai and removing it from the Aashiqui franchise.

Kartik Aaryan's belief in franchise potential following Bhool Bhulaiyaa success

Aaryan appears to have unexpectedly changed the course of the story. A source told the tabloid that the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has confirmed the actor's belief in the power of franchises. In order to get the title, he advised Bhushan to approach Mukesh Bhatt. Aaryan is sure the romance will get a boost from developing it within the Aashiqui franchise. 

Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal became famous within hours of releasing Aashiqui in 1990. T-Series and Bhatt's Vishesh Films produced Aashiqui 2 (2013), which united Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. The insider claims that Bhushan is now trying to figure out how to proceed with Bhatt in light of Aaryan's eagerness to head the franchise. This is one of the reasons why filming of the film, which also features Triptii Dimri, will have to wait until next year.

Delays in filming due to production challenges

The source continued by saying that Basu needs to concentrate on filming the reshoot of Metro... In Dino. This latest update has scheduled the project for launch sometime in 2024. According to the source, Aaryan is eager to have everything sorted out before he goes on camera.

This year, franchises have been a moneymaker, whether it's Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, or Singham Again. From Ranbir Kapoor's Animal Park to Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan 2, nearly every actor has a sequel in the works. It would be wise for Aaryan to follow suit.

According to a further source, the actor will soon begin shooting Pati Patni Aur Woh 2. A sequel to 2018's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is something he's really looking forward to.
