The makers of Dileep’s latest movie Voice of Sathyanathan are pulling off a casting coup of sorts. After roping in Anupam Kher to play a pivotal role in the movie, recent reports suggest that actors Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj and Makarand Deshpande are also part of the film.
Touted to be an entertainer that handles a serious subject, the movie is currently being filmed in Mumbai and the team is also expected to shoot in Delhi in the coming weeks. Voice of Sathyanathan has Dileep playing a furniture-shop owner who likes to say what people want to hear. How a particular incident leads to a change forms the plot of the film, which is directed by Raffi.
The movie, which also has Joju George and Veena Nandakumar, had concluded its Kerala schedule earlier. The Mumbai schedule, which kicked off earlier this month, is expected to be wrapped up in a few days.
Jagapathi Babu will be making his Malayalam comeback with the film. He had previously played the antagonist in Mohanlal’s superhit Pulimurugan and Mammooty’s Madhura Raja – both of which were helmed by Vysakh. Prakash Raj, who was last seen in the Malayalam movie Pada essaying the role of a bureaucrat, is also part of Kannan Thamarakulam’s political thriller Varaal, in which he plays the role of Kerala chief minister. Makarand Deshpande was also part of Dileep’s Two Countries, which was scripted by Voice of Sathyanathan director Raffi.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Rafi said, “The movie actually tackles a serious subject. While it is laced with humour elements, it’s not a full-length comedy. But it can be slotted as a family entertainer.”
The film, which is co-produced by Dileep, has music by Justin Varghese and cinematography by Jithin Stanislaus. Meanwhile, the actor is also set to team up again with Ramaleela director Arun Gopy for a film, which is expected to go on floors this year.
