Period films and shows have always had a strange sense of allure for audiences, and it seems that even stars are not immune to them either. Aditi Rao Hydari, who is all set to grace the silver screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, recently opened up about the hold period dramas have on her.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Aditi said that she had no idea why she was so in love with period dramas, which managed to come into her life one way or the other. Talking about how excited she got whenever the prospect of doing a period piece came up, the actress said “One hundred percent, it is also me and my love for these epic love stories or period love stories or anything to do with history”.
Her love for period pieces went so deep that even when she was listening to something regular, she would always question whether it was a period piece or not. She said that she loved historical works and always felt like there was something magical about them. Even though she could not quite place her finger on it, she was elated by the fact that she got opportunities to act in a lot of period pieces.
Aditi will next be seen in the ZEE5 series, Taj-Divided By Blood, in which she essays the role of Anarkali. Speaking about her character, Anarkali, Aditi said that although she initially felt intimidated by the sheer magnitude of the character, the story of the show excited her.The series, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sandhya Mridul, Zarina Wahab, Aashim Gulati, Taha Shah, Shubham Kumar Mehra, Rahul Bose and Dharmendra, will premiere on ZEE5 on March 3.
The actress also has a leading role in the Netflix series Heeramandi, which marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s digital debut. The period drama will see her share the screen with Manisha Koirala, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha and Sonakshi Sinha.
