One announcement that took over mainstream headlines last month was that of O Saathi Re, a Netflix show that will bring back Imtiaz Ali after She and Amar Singh Chamkila. The show was announced with a stellar star cast, including Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary, and Arjun Rampal in the lead. Fans have been excited and eager to know what the show is exactly about. For Hydari, it is a reunion with her Rockstar director, making it a double celebration. So, when Aditi Rao Hydari won Best Actor – Popular at the OTTplay Awards 2025 recently, we had to ask her about O Saathi Re and reuniting with Imtiaz Ali. Aditi Rao Hydari on Reuniting with Imtiaz Ali
Imtiaz Ali—renowned for his rich storytelling and deeply moving portrayals of relationships in Tamasha, Rockstar, Jab We Met, and Love Aaj Kal—will take on the role of Creator, Writer, and Showrunner of O Saathi Re. He will also be the Executive Producer of the series along with Mohit Choudhary. Arif Ali, who previously directed the Netflix series She, will take on the role of Director. So, when Aditi Rao Hydari was asked about reuniting with Imtiaz Ali, she said, “Oh my God, he is so incredible. I am such a big fan of his and Chamkila. He is winning all the awards for Amar Singh Chamkila, and very deservingly so. I am so excited to be working with him. He is very special in the way he thinks, the way he layers, the nuances—it's just so incredible just to listen to him.”
Talking about winning the award for playing Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix show Heeramandi, Aditi Rao Hydari said, “Amazing, it feels very, very special. This one is really for Sanjay sir and the entire team of Heeramandi—for all the love on set, for all the creation, and just for having me there and making me a part of that vision. This is so special, and so was the entire journey. When such things happen, I really feel very blessed.”
She also spoke about the best compliments she received for the show. She said, “I have to say there were many. Each one of them was special. But I think the most special would always be from the director himself. When you see a twinkle in Sanjay sir’s eyes and when he gives you that hug, that is the biggest compliment. And from Rekha ji.”
