Imtiaz Ali’s collaboration with Netflix has been one of the most fruitful partnerships in the Indian entertainment space. The two first united for a unique show that slowly found an audience and captivated all of them. We are talking about She, the show led by Aditi Pohankar, directed by Sajid Ali and written by Imtiaz. Just when the audience was craving for a third season, Ali announced his next film Amar Singh Chamkila, which was released straight to streaming and was labeled as a Netflix original. Turns out the streaming platform is in no mood to let the filmmaker go, and they have commissioned yet another series by the filmmaker, bringing together the creative team of She. Starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Arjun Rampal, everything about this project screams excitement.
Imtiaz Ali To Make A Show With Aditi Rao Hydari and Arjun Rampal?
The new series, a complex romantic one, will have Imtiaz as the showrunner and Sajid taking the reins as the director. Sajid, for the uninitiated, is known for directing the cult-popular and loved romantic saga Laila Majnu, which was released in 2018 and is now considered one of the best romantic movies of the past decade. The film recently became a phenomenon upon its re-release. The team reunites for the show, which will have Arjun Rampal and Aditi Rao Hydari star opposite each other.
As per a report in Peeping Moon, the show is tentatively titled O Saathi Rey, with Imtiaz Ali writing the script and functioning as the showrunner. The series is being co-produced by Imtiaz under his banner, Window Seat Films. There are not many plot details about the show except that it will revolve around an extramarital affair.
The pairing of Arjun and Aditi is a very interesting choice because it is not an obvious one. There are no details on what characters the two are playing or whether they are the ones cheating or being cheated on. It is said that the series will go on floors in February 2025, and both Aditi and Arjun are pretty excited about the project.
Imtiaz Ali On The Idiots Of Istanbul
On the film front, Imtiaz Ali is currently working on a film with Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri titled The Idiot Of Istanbul. As per Hindustan Times, recently confirming the movie, he said, “This announcement is out, but it’s like a little ahead of its time. There is a movie, but I don’t know, it might not be the next one up. But, yes, I’ve been trying to make this film for a long time. It’s called The Idiot of Istanbul.”
When asked if the film will see Fahadh in the lead role, he responded, “I would like it…yeah. I would love to do this. And now, since you’ve cornered me, I don’t know why I’m not supposed to say this. But yes, my plan is to make this film with Fahadh.”
