After over two years of its theatrical release, director Jijo Antony’s Kerala State Film Award-winning movie Adithattu is set to drop on OTT. The movie, which has Shine Tom Chacko and Sunny Wayne in lead roles, will begin streaming on two OTT platforms – Manorama MAX and Amazon Prime Video.
Adithattu, which is extensively set at sea, had hit theatres in Kerala in June 2022 and despite good reviews, the movie didn’t land an OTT deal until recently. The film, scripted by Khais Millen, was shot in Thangassery, Kappil, and Varkala in 2021.
The film, which also has Prashanth Alexander, Sabumon Abdusamad, VIS Jayapalan, and Joseph Yesudas, is currently set to begin streaming on Manorama MAX and Amazon Prime Video from November 15 onwards.

Adithatthu’s plot revolves around seven who set out to sea on a boat, hoping for a catch that would change their fortunes. While each of them has their own agenda for being on the boat, the suicide of their former captain Stalin still remains a mystery with one of them allegedly being responsible for it. But how does it disturb their dynamics with each other, especially in the middle of the sea?

Adithattu, which has Shine playing the role of Ambrose and Sunny essaying the role of Marcos, shows the grueling challenges of fishermen. The slow-burn thriller also tries to paint a picture of the socio-economic conditions of these people, who put their lives on the line, hoping for a change of fortunes.
Much like Adithatthu, Antony Varghese’s Kondal, which is currently streaming on Netflix, is another gritty Malayalam action-thriller that is set extensively at sea. The revenge thriller, which also has Pramod Velliyanad, Sirajudheen, and Shabeer Kallarackal in pivotal roles, also deals with a man who boards the boat, hoping to find out what has happened to his friend who mysteriously dies.
