The teaser of director Om Raut's Adipurush, which is based on the epic Ramayana, was released recently at a grand event in Ayodhya on October 2 for which the entire cast and crew were present. The film has Prabhas as Ram, Saif Ali Khan playing Raavan and Kriti Sanon as Sita. The teaser gave a glimpse of Ram's quest to find Sita, who is held captive in Lanka by Raavan. It also provides a peak at the Vaanar Sena and Hanuman helping him in the mission. Now, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister and BJP leader Narottam Mishra has pointed out that the teaser shows Hanuman wearing leather attire and stated that the 'objectionable' scene needs to be removed from the film or that the director will face legal action. “There are objectionable scenes in the teaser. Lord Hanuman is shown wearing clothes of leather. Such scenes hurt religious sentiments. I am writing to producer Om Raut to remove such scenes. If he doesn’t remove, we will think about legal action,” Narottam Mishra said.
Ever since the launch of the teaser of Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan-starrer ‘Adipurush’ in Ayodhya, nothing seems to be working in favour of the makers because of the controversial depiction of epic Ramayana in the movie. Speaking to the press, the BJP leader said, "There are objectionable scenes in Adipurush like Hanuman ji wearing clothes of leather. Such scenes hurt religious sentiments. I am writing to the makers to remove such scenes. If not, we will think about legal action,”
It looks like things are not really going the way of Om Raut's Adipurush. The teaser has been ridiculed by all and sundry for its patchy work on CGI and VFX. Many have called it a caricature and have likened the teaser to a cartoon show. Meanwhile, the hashtag Boycott Adipurush is gaining ground on social media. Netizens have stated that many portrayals in the teaser are problematic, like Raavan (Saif) flying a dragon (as in Game of Thrones) instead of a Pushpak Viman. The film is all set to release on 12 January, 2023 in multiple languages
