KRG Studios’ Karthik Gowda can’t seem to catch a break, at least on social media. Whatever he says on the platform, there are always people out there to find fault with him. And his recent Adipurush announcements have been no different. It started when Karthik took to social media to announce that this banner had acquired the distribution rights of Adipurush in Karnataka.
Almost immediately, there was a string of responses urging Karthik to ensure that a healthy ratio of Kannada shows are part of the deal, with some accusing him of not doing enough to support the industry. This seemed to be bolstered when the initial list of theatre allocation for the film was heavily in favour of the Telugu version, with Hindi a close second. At the time, Kannada had only three shows in Bengaluru, with several other main cities reporting none at all.
During the course of the day, Karthik assured netizens that he was working out the permutations and combinations to ensure enough Kannada shows are made available to audiences and urged people to be patient. By late June 12, there were 22 shows for the 3D version, with more to be added. As part of his measure to give the Kannada version a boost, Karthik is also planning to have a celebrity premiere of Adipurush on June 16. He wrote, “We will have a celebrity premiere for kannada version of #Adipurush on 16th of June. It will be @KRG_Studios mega event. More details soon.” Adipurush, which is coming to theatres on June 16 in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam, is the 90the film that KRG Studios is distributing.
Netizens were thrilled with Karthik’s announcements, with some even offering apologies for throwing shade at him over the Kannada dubbed version of Adipurush.
