The highly-awaited movie Adipurush made its grand debut at the worldwide box office on Friday. However, the movie has garnered extremely negative reactions from critics and fans alike, putting the filmmakers and its star cast in a difficult situation. Director Om Raut finds himself facing the brunt of the criticism, as devoted fans of Prabhas express their deep disappointment with the portrayal of their beloved star in the film.
"It's better if Om Raut remains in disguise for the next two years," said an angry fan while talking to media outside a theatre.
"We haven't slept the whole night, you can see that in our eyes, our Prabhas, a tall, handsome guy, made to look like a fool, Bollywood is cunningly doing this for the downfall of Telugu cinema, CM KCR should take immediate action," alleged a visibly emotional fan.
"It's all Om Raut's mistake," shouted another fan while slamming the movie.
Earlier, in the day a moviegoer was assaulted by fans of Prabhas for trashing the movie in front of the media. "I'm not angry with them. I pity them. Because the fans, who were so eager to watch their hero in the get-up of Lord Rama, were disappointed. And when they saw me genuinely saying that the film is bad, they got upset. They didn't know at whom they should take out their frustration, so they attacked me," said the guy who was thrashed by the fans.
Originally scheduled for a January release, coinciding with the Sankranti festivities, Adipurush encountered a setback when its teaser fell short of fans' expectations . Unveiled at a grand event in Uttar Pradesh last year, the teaser caught viewers off guard with its live-animation style and underwhelming visual effects, resulting in widespread disillusionment.
In response to the unfavourable feedback and in an attempt to regain audience trust, the filmmakers made the decision to delay the film's release and devoted substantial time, energy, and resources to improving its overall quality. However, judging by the responses to the movie, it appears that the filmmakers' efforts have unfortunately been in vain.
The big-screen adaptation of the mythological epic Ramayana also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan.
