PremiumAdipurush OTT release: When can you expect Prabhas' epic drama to arrive on streaming?

Telugu superstar Prabhas' latest movie Adipurush is set to take the box office by storm . The big-screen adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana, the movie is opening amid a lot of expectations. Written and directed by Om Raut, the movie also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
The main focus of the upcoming will be the epic battle between Lord Rama and demon king Ravana following the abduction of Sita.

"Raghav, the prince of the Ikshvaku dynasty from Kosala, along with his wife Janaki and younger brother Shesh, embarks on a 14-year exile in the wilderness. Residing in the forests of Panchvati, near the Godavari river, their new life takes a treacherous turn when a demoness named Shurpankha attempts to seduce the brothers and threatens Janaki's life. After a failed attempt, the demoness is left disfigured, losing her ears and nose. In retaliation, the Demon King Lankesh abducts Janaki, spurring Raghav and Shesh to embark on a mission to rescue her with the aid of Monkey King Sugriv, his loyal companion Bajarang, and their formidable monkey army," reads the film's synopsis.
Adipurush is due to arrive in cinemas on June 16. The multiplex chains and theatres in the Hindi belt have strict terms when it comes to the gap between a film's theatrical release and its digital premiere. In the south, the producers enjoy greater leniency to strike lucrative pre-release deals with the streaming platforms. Case in point, the latest Malayalam blockbuster 2018. Starring Tovino Thomas in the lead role, the movie started streaming on SonyLIV just a month after its theatrical release, abruptly ending its terrific box office run across the country. The early OTT release of the movie even saw wide protests from the stakeholders in Kerala.
Given that Adipurush is also getting a wide release in Hindi, it must also comply with the prevailing practices. According to the current practice, all big movies must maintain a gap of at least eight weeks between their first theatrical release and digital debut. Considering this, it's safe to assume that Adipurush will become available for streaming in the second week of August. We can expect it to start streaming by August 15, just around the Independence Day holiday.
According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the streaming rights of Adipurush for a record sum. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
