Adipurush: Fans launch physical attack at viewer for negative reviews, leave netizens horrified

Fandom is a priced possession for countless people across India, especially when it comes to film actors and superstars. Fans' devotion to their chosen stars has often resulted in acts of endearment that also showcase their loyalty and commitment, but there also have been instances (in plenitude) that bring out the highly negative and deplorable shades of his form of allegiance. 

One such instance, enunciating the latter, occurred after the screening of Adipurush wherein an audience member was physically attacked outside the cinema hall. Although the context is not fully set, it is evident from the video snippets that the audience member was beaten up by fellow patrons of the theatre for sharing a negative review of the Prabhas starrer with the media present outside. The incident, based on a few comments on Twitter, presumably occurred in Hyderabad.

The audience member could be spotted discussing his experience of watching Adipurush while being surrounded by a sea of people outside the cinema halls. The scathing review would highlight several facets of the film, including the alleged lacklustre VFX, Prabhas' presence in the film and much more, only to cause the fans in the vicinity to grow extremely displeased and angry. Things would spiral out of control and soon enough, a few angered fans would beat up the audience member while the crowd around tried to defuse the extremely unpleasant situation. 

Most comments/remarks on the incident have condemned the violence with a few even urging police intervention and claiming that freedom of speech should never be abused to this extent.

As far as the initial audience response to Adipurush is concerned, it is safe to say that the reviews have largely been polarizing. On the one hand, fans of Prabhas have liked the actor's screen presence and overall opulence of the film, whereas the rest have vehemently dismissed it as a poorly executed attempt. The visual effects of the film, which have been under scrutiny right from the beginning, have fetched most of the negative reviews with social media currently brimming with memes and mockery.

Adipurush is directed by Om Raut with Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage and others as part of the main cast.
