The official description of actor Rishi’s next in Kannada cinema, Rudhra Garuda Purana, is that it is a crime thriller, in which, he as a cop, investigates the disappearance of a young man and his girlfriend, who go missing after a bus ride. Turns out that the bus in question has not been operational for a quarter of a century. How did the bus magically reappear and where is the couple? These are questions that Rishi’s Rudhra has to find answers to.
As serious as all of this sounds, though, going by the promotional material the team has been releasing, there’s a lot of light-hearted stuff too in the KS Nandish film. Earlier today, a peppy romantic track called Adeneno dropped. Composed by KP, with vocals by Sanjith Hegde and Deepika Varadarajan and lyrics by Pramod Maravanthe, the song has Rishi and leading lady Priyanka busting a few moves.
In fact, the first song from the film was also a romantic number, Kann Munde Bandu. Last week, a song called Hukka Elli Sukka Hodi, which had commentary about the freebie politics culture, had been revealed. All of this points to the film having a good mix of commercial elements, and making it a complete package.
Rudhra Garuda Purana, produced by Ashwini Lohith, was earlier announced as a December 27, 2024 release, but when Kiccha Sudeep’s Max came along on December 25, it had to be pushed ahead. The team has now zeroed in on January 24 as its date with audiences, but even that is slowly getting crowded, with at least 2-3 other films lined up, like, Royal and Forest, for instance.
Written and directed by Nandish, Rudhra Garuda Purana also stars Vinod Alva, Avinash, Shivraj K R Pate, Giri, Ridvi, S Sreeradhar, Ashwini Gowda, Ram Pavan, Vamsi, Akash, Joseph, Prabhakar, Gautam Mysore, Snake Shyam, Ranganath Bharadwaj, Jagappa, Prasanna Handrangi, and Prabhakar Boregowda, among others.
