Indian TV actor Kanishka Soni, popular for her role in the hit TV soap opera Pavitra Rishta, recently made an announcement on her social media accounts that left some shocked: she has married herself.
Just last week, the actress, who hails from a 'conservative' family in Gujarat, revealed that she has married herself, stating that she is the "Goddess" and "everything" is "inside" of her.
"... Since I fulfilled all my dreams my own & the only person I am in love with is MYSELF," a part of her announcement caption read.
In no time, trolls started attacking her over this unconventional decision, with one saying, "Pehle to yaar namak sungh ke nasha karna banddd kar (First of all, stopping getting high on salt," while another added, "Annoyed about not getting a boyfriend? Or in Attitude?"
Recently, Soni came forward with another video post defending her decision to marry herself and why she doesn't need men for sex, thanks to "advancement in technology", she said.
"... Marriage is not about sex, it's about love and honesty one seeks for and I have lost that faith, so it's better to live alone and love myself than seeking it in outside world when it's difficult to find," she said in the video, before adding that it's decision she has made with her "full heart and soul with full conscious mind".
"I am happy that I am in USA now and focusing on my career," she concluded.
In all of her Instagram posts since the announcement, Kanishka Soni can be seen wearing sindoor (vermilion) while exploring different iconic destinations of New York City.
For those of you who are not in the know, TV actor Kanishka Soni has featured in daily sopas such as Do Dil Ek Jaan, Pavitra Rishta, Diya Aur Baati Hum and Devon Ke Dev, among others.
Soni has also worked in the Tamil film industry where she has worked in films such as Pathaveram, Devaraya and Yuvrajayam. She was also a guest participant in reality TV show, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 2.
