It’s being said that 'Kennedy' and its noir-thriller storyline will be exploring the theme of redemption against the backdrop of the pandemic, thus, shedding light on its impact across various walks of life. Aamir Dalvi had the opportunity to collaborate with Anurag Kashyap, who is known for granting actors the creative freedom to approach their scenes and characters. Although initially nervous, Aamir Dalvi soon discovered that Anurag's distinctive style didn't require extensive preparation from the actors. Instead, Anurag Kashyap prefers them to be present on set and allows the magic to unfold naturally.
A source close to the film’s production unit told us that, during the rehearsals, Aamir found himself unsure of what to expect as he was given no specific instructions. But, when the first shot took place, Anurag's excitement was palpable and subsequently, Anurag meticulously explained the intricacies of the scene and the character, equipping Aamir with a comprehensive understanding of his role. The source added that this experience taught Aamir the valuable lesson that Anurag champions actors' creative autonomy, enabling them to present their unique interpretation of a scene and character.
Speaking exclusively to OTTplay, Aamir Dalvi said, “Every actor in India dreams with working with the finest directors. Anurag Kashyap is one of them. And this dream became a reality for me. The feeling is yet to sink in. I play the antagonist in the film who is looking for his redemption too. This was my first experience with Anurag Kashyap. I was a little nervous as wasn’t prepared for the role…that is Anurag’s style…He doesn’t ask you prepare and wants an actor to be on set and then, from there, he takes it on. So, till the rehearsals happened, I didn’t know what to do not was told anything. Then, the first shot happened and what Anurag saw, he was happy. I would rather say, more than he being happy, he was excited, if I can be a little modest”.
Aamir Dalvi continued, “He then later dwelled more into details of the scene and the character. What I realised is that he actually gives the actor their creative freedom to showcase how an actor approaches a scene and the character. After the last shot of my character, he threw a flying kiss. What had transpired into the scene then by me as an actor. That visual still holds so strong till date and shall be cherished forever. Iam really glad that I have been able to mark myself as a good actor in his book of records.
